The pilgrimage hill Křemešník is located in the Českomoravská vysočina highlands, above the village of Sázava, in a picturesque landscape of hills, forests, meadows and ponds, some 24 km (approx. 15 miles) from the regional capital Jihlava and some 10 km (approx. 6 miles) from the town of Pelhřimov.
Křemešník hill with the Holy Trinity Church on its top is a popular point of pilgrimage. There is a slightly radioactive water spring at the bottom of the hill, which runs out periodically. According to a legend, the spring has miraculous healing properties. Next to the spring stand a chapel and a former hermitage. A Way of the Cross goes up the hill, starting at the spring and leading to a Holy Sepulchre.
Every year a famous and large pilgrimage is held there, traditionally joined by processions from distant places of the region.
Recently, a look-out-tower was built on the top of Křeme?ník, from which you can see as far as Prague if weather conditions permit.
